Though it might not feel like it most of the country, spring is less than a month away! That means its time to shop the latest styles and fashions for Spring 2014, and your favorite designers have a lot to offer, from pop art prints to asymmetrical hemlines to vintage-inspired looks. We’ve checked out the latest runway shows and discovered the hottest trends of the season, all translated into adorable, stylish and wearable looks for your little girls, girls and tweens.
Printed leggings are huge this spring, thanks to a showing of pop art prints on the runways. Designers such as Kenzo, Peter Som, Christopher Kane and Miu Miu were all playing with bold, quirky prints for spring, as were Prada and Christian Dior. Translated into kid-friendly wear, these patterns are popping up all over, but especially on printed leggings.
This look is so fresh and fun, and such an easy way for your girl or tween to express her unique style! We especially love the funky leggings, capris and tights from Zara Terez. This hip brand is known for its eclectic prints and trend setting fabrics; this spring, she’ll adore pairing skirts or tunic tops with quirky leggings that sport colorful cartoons, fireworks, unicorns, Broadway icons or even those ubiquitous Rainbow Loom bands that every girl is obsessed with these days!
For even more fun looks, check out the printed pop art leggings from Les Touts Petits, a favorite brand of the Obama daughters. Choose from colorful prints that include paint splatters, pinwheels, peace signs and Warhol’s iconic roses to dress up any skirt or top with a splash of color and individual style.
Even if your girl or tween’s personal motto isn’t “skate or die!”, she’ll still adore the latest trend to sweep the runways: The skater dress. With their full swingy skirts, fitted bodices and cute scoop necks, skater dresses let your fashion forward tween explore her edgy side — just a little bit, anyway.
But they’re not just on-trend; skater dresses’ considerable appeal also lies in their versatility! These adorable dresses can be classic, when paired with patterned tights, riding boots, and a pea coat. When she wants to add a little edge, she can add ankle boots, a scarf and a moto jacket. For a more conservative look, simply top with a sweater and add flats.
Hi Lo Dresses
We’ve been seeing the hi lo hem trend for a while, and it’s only getting hotter. In their Spring 2014 lines, designers such as Bottega Veneta, Donna Karan, Rag and Bone, and Thakoon all featured this popular look. Celebrities love it too, with famous fashionistas Kate Hudson, Natalie Portman, Olivia Palermo, and Rachel Bilson all rocking this fun look on the red carpet in recent months.
We adore the hi lo look too, and especially like how Truly Me — part of the Hannah Banana brand — combines it with another trendy runway style, flowing skirts in gorgeous colors like guava pink and rich royal blue. Truly Me also offers stunning spring dresses featuring this versatile hemline in a range of patterns, from graphic stripes to florals — which are, by the way, another hot runway trend for the season!
Truly Me’s big sis, Sara Sara, also offers the hi lo look. Sara Sara’s tween dresses feature this noteworthy hemline in beautiful geometric, floral and graphic prints, all in the rich colors of the season. Hi lo maxi skirts add another dress-up or dress-down option that can take your tween from school to special events with ease.
Fringe was big in the Spring 14 fashion shows, with designers like Altuzarra, Miu Miu, Rodarte, Philip Lim, Max Azria, and Calvin Klein all adding this swingy embellishment to runway-ready looks. For the younger set, fringed swimsuits create a fresh and fun look for hanging out at the beach, hopping into the pool, or even just splashing through the sprinklers in the back yard!
Here at Little Fashions Boutique, we especially love the fringed looks from Submarine. Their tween bikinis blend strong color palettes, fresh prints and a bit of fringe for a look your tween will love all summer long. We’re also big fans of the fringed swimsuits from Ondade Mar, a brand that melds South American style with stunning prints, high quality fabrics and the latest beach fashion trends that your girl will adore.
Vintage is always amazing, and when you add lace — as we saw so often in the Spring 2014 lines — this lovely style just gets prettier and more feminine. Designers like Burberry Prosum, Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton, Dolce and Gabbana, and Vera Wang all featured lacy looks in their Spring 14 runway shows.
One of our favorite new brands, Mustard Pie takes that lacy, vintage style to a whole new level that no little girl — or mom — could resist. From stunning ivory lace leggings to ruffly dresses and skirts, Mustard Pie’s adorableness factor is through the roof. We also adore the lacy vintage styles from Haute Baby. This exclusive line is known for its subtle colors and exquisite fabrics. You’ll love dressing your little one up in these sweet styles all spring long!

Are you watching the Olympic Games in Sochi? I usually don’t follow them very closely, but this time it’s much closer to home and to my heart. I grew-up in Sochi area, just 5 kilometers away from the stadium where Russian figure skaters won silver and gold medals yesterday. I’m very proud of them and of Russia in general. Figure Skating and Hockey are immensely popular sports in Russia. When I was a kid, growing up in the 70″s, we always watched figure skating on TV, it was an event for the whole family and it’s my favorite sport to watch even now.
You hear a lot of negative publicity about Russian President, about how much money was spent on the Olympics, how much was stolen, about stray dogs running around the streets etc, etc. Much of this stuff is over-blown and exaggerated. You have to go there and see with your own eyes, before you believe everything you see on TV.
As far as I’m concerned, this is totally irrelevant. I know that Olympic Games are good for Sochi and for Russia and what was achieved for past 7 years is simply staggering! Do you know what was there before they built a huge sports complex with hotels and stadiums? There was a waste land with mosquitoes and weeds. I was there in 2003 with my husband and my daughter who was 3 yrs old at that time. We drove around the area in my brother’s car one day, and the car broke-down. We had to wait for a friend to come and help us for an hour or maybe more. (Yes, Russians call a friend, not a triple – A) My daughter had mosquito bites all over her. And that was exactly where the Olympic Park of Adler is right now. Sochi is a sea-side resort town that spreads 120 kilometers along the Black Sea Coast , there is not much industry in that area, except tourism. It’s going to bring more jobs to that area and help develop the economy. And this is what Adler Sports Complex area looks like now:
Entire infrastructure has been rebuilt with new airport, new roads and high speed trains, new train station and housing. I was in Sochi in 2007 when they won the bid for Olympic games and my relatives, who live in Sochi, are telling me that I will not recognize the area, it’s totally transformed. I don’t know why this can be bad and why so much negativity. See new 7-story train station in Adler below:
People are the same everywhere, they try to live, to raise their families and to have fun, if they can. Russians are very Cosmopolitan, they embrace other cultures with open heart and try to adapt the best of the Western World. I wish the Western World would do the same. Don’t judge, just get on a plane and see it for yourself. You’ll be in for treat, it’s a lovely pace to visit.

There aren’t many occasions more special — or more perfect for photo opportunities — than the annual Father Daughter Dance. After all, it’s the perfect excuse for Daddy to spoil his little princess rotten with full approval from the rest of the family!
If you’re looking for that perfect father-daughter dance dress, Little Fashion Boutique is here to help! We carry a full range of special occasion girls dress styles, from fluffy, sparkly, ballerina style frocks for your little girls to tween dresses that have just the right blend of runway style and girly adorableness.
Perfect for the special dance, this stunning hot pink Devin dress from Ooh La La Couture will let her look — and feel — like a real princess when she enters the ballroom on Daddy’s arm. This delightful special occasion girls dress features an amazing skirt that she’ll love to twirl. It’s constructed of layer upon light layer of floating tulle that would make any prima ballerina proud.
The fitted bodice features a simple silhouette and spaghetti straps, but it’s all dressed up by genuine Swarovski crystals. These sparkling gems shimmer and shine, catching the light with her every move.
At her waist, the tulle is beautifully gathered and overlaps the waistline that creates the perfect transition, while adding just a little bit of flair. It all adds up to the perfect dress for a night that she’ll never forget!
Elisa B Neon Pink Chiffon and Sequins Hi Lo Tween Dress
Your fashionista in the making won’t be able to resist this gorgeous father-daughter dance dress from Elisa B. This girls party dress has a deceptively simple silhouette crafted from flowing chiffon in a rich neon pink. Chiffon overlays float over the top, adding sparkle and shine with thousands of shimmering sequins, all in the same shades of neon pink that will make her the center of attention at any ball.
Best of all, she can wear this dress to her other special events throughout the season, from school dances to weddings and everywhere in between. And most importantly, she’ll feel beautiful no matter where she goes in this shimmering party dress.
Moxie and Mabel Primrose Pink Petal Skirt Party Dress
It just doesn’t get any more adorable than this primrose pink party dress from Moxie and Mabel. Layer upon layer of pale petals in the softest, most feminine shade of pink cascade down the flowing, full length skirt, giving new meaning to the words “special occasion dress.”
With that vintage, retro feel that’s so on-trend, this amazing gown surrounds her in layers of soft tulle that float as she dances and twirls in Daddy’s arms. Adding to the over cute factor, the skirt is interlaced with vintage-print flower petals that offset the stunning lace floral accent atop her be-ribboned waist.
Top it all off with a shimmering, shining bodice in a delicate silver foil print, covered with flowers and birds, and you’ve got a dress that’s truly fit for Daddy’s little girl.
